General Membership Meeting on October 16, 2018
Meeting Scheduled Time: 7:30 pm
Location: Holy Redeemer Church – Four Seasons Room
Officers in attendance: Christy Dollymore, Dan Blasburg, Bob Catlin, Chad Stern
Meeting commenced at 7:38 pm. Police officers made a report. The officers included Officer Whitlow, a city contract officer and others. Issues discussed included loud noise from the car wash on Baltimore Avenue, air bag thefts in Berwyn Heights, IKEA parking lot drag raising and traffic at 48th Avenue and Greenbelt cutting to University Blvd.
Bob Ryan from City Public Services Department was scheduled to talk but did not attend the meeting. (He was rescheduled for our November general meeting.)
Upcoming events were discussed: The Holiday Party in December on our normal meeting evening of December 20th. Also discussed was working with the University to schedule an inspection of the “moat” around the Washington Post building.
Treasurer’s report: September 30th balance was $2,547.06
CM PJ Brennan discussed two upcoming feedback session with residents about their vision for a new downtown City Hall. Also mentioned were Alloy by Alta apartments were taking lease applications for June occupancy; Lidl construction and related Baltimore Ave sidewalk issues; SHA pedestrian improvements for Rhode Island Avenue and Greenbelt Road; tulip bulb (500) planting in the park on November 17th. The CM said that the County had approved a TIF for the proposed Bozutto project downtown. He also discussed a proposal to have the Mayor and council serve four year terms, which would require a City Charter change. He discussed the bioswale along Rhode Island Avenue and the need for maintenance of it.
